I felt I was quite limited on my information yesterday let me explain what happened exactly:
I awoke to my mother
hanging a witches costume at the end of my bed. "Is this some kind of
Joke?" I asked her
"No! To understand
the change you need to understand our history and why children cannot know of
this history until the change. You will act as the false views of the town’s
people." She said
"Mooooom! Must I
really do this?" I whined
"Julia Marie
Wholeheart, you get outta that bed right now. You have been telling me you do
not understand what is going on and now that it is time to show you, you do not
want to play along to learn." she said firmly
"OK! I will play
along. It is a beautiful dress for Halloween!" I laughed.
My mom laughed too!
"It is funny but that is how the people said we dressed." still
chuckling my mom walked out so I could change. I got dressed and walked to the
top of the stairs
"Mom I am
ready!" She came around the corner from her bedroom.
"Mom you look
beautiful." I said as I gasped.
She did she looked like
a beautiful towns maiden, it was a blue old style long dress that went to the
ankles with a white apron on. “Thank you, fortunately this is how we really dressed
and when they would bear false witness to whom a witch was they could not see
that we were truly one of them. Back when the Salem witch trials were happening
they were also going on all over the United States. Here in Ohio you did not
hear much about witches, but when one was called out the whole State came to
witness the execution of the witch. You’re Great, Great, Great Grandmother
Amelia Lynn Wholeheart is who you will learn about today." she explained
to me.
I walked out the door
thinking it was just going to be us when I turned to look, my grandparents,
aunts, uncles and a few of our town folks were here dressed in their parts. I
had to laugh because the people that were here from the town actually carried
pitch forks and torches. There was a counsel that was made up of some teachers
from my high school, and a judge who actually the Mayor was. My dad played the
Sheriff "Go figure" I thought to myself. My family members actually
played the parts as my mother’s family. She told me to go stand by the
makeshift court room. I did as I was told and stood there as instructed.
A bell was ringing my
father came around the house yelling "Witch, there Amelia Wholeheart you
are under arrest for being a witch. There has been a complaint that you wore a
witch’s garment and were seen in the woods conjuring spirits. Is this
true?" I felt overwhelmed with fear as if I could feel my Great, Great,
Great Grandmothers fear.
"No Sheriff, what
are you speaking of! Please search my home you will see that you are
wrong." my mother said. As I watched the reenactment of the story I felt
as if I was falling into a different realm. I closed my eyes to stop the
dizziness and when I opened them I was my Great, Great, Great Grandmother
Amelia.
I looked around for my
mother she is supposed to be this part how did I get into her costume.
"Help!” I
yelled, “You have the wrong person." I heard myself say. But it was not me
saying this she had total control, I was just there to view and experience the
past. The Sheriff appeared in front of me "Answer me Witch" he
smacked me hard I hit the ground.
"Where is your
garment for conjuring the spirits?" he asked again.
He bent down to my
grandmothers’ ear and whispered "Amelia my love I do not wish to have to
do this!”
“This is the only way to
save the coven my dear. I Love you my forever and always my eternal mate!"
Amelia whispered. What! The Sheriff is my Great, Great, Great
Grandmothers’ eternal mate. Why? Why must he do this? I could not stop trying
to scream at him "THEN WHY MUST YOU?" But he could not hear me
because I was truly not there. I was crying uncontrollably for my Great, Great,
Great Grandmother.
"Josiah my eternal
mate, it is our fate to save this Coven so that future witches will have a safe
haven for their covens. Our children will have some of the most powerful
witches Good witches that will heal and protect our coven. On this day we will
truly be together forever. Now finish this!" My Great, Great, Great
Grandmother told him. As a tear, ran down both of their faces. I do not
understand why they are sacrificing themselves for the towns people the ones
that persecuted our people. Josiah Stood to stand above her "She has
admitted that her garment is in the barn." He yelled to the town’s people
they were screaming and throwing things at Amelia. He grabbed her and lipped to
her "I love you forever and always my eternal mate." when he was sure
no one could see him. "Now show us where this garment is?" he yelled
again. Then took her by her upper arm and dragged her to the barn. Josiah threw
Amelia to the ground and told her “Point to where the garment is.”
Amelia stood pointed to
the top rafters’ one of the towns folks climbed and brought that ridiculous
dress down that my mother made me wear. As he brought it out he grabbed the
broom that lay next to the door. "I have heard that they use these to fly
on! That is the word from Salem." my grandmother laughed to herself
because that was the most ridiculous thing she has heard. Amelia yelled to the
town’s people "That is right believing everything you hear from Salem,
they know the truth right. All you women get rid of your brooms that you do
house work with because you to might be a witch." The towns women started
to listen to her and question if she truly was a witch. For a few seconds she
thought she might not have to die on this day. But that was short lived when
the Mayor came around the barn and yelled "Burn the witch she is getting
into the heads of all of you to make you change your mind so she might live on
this day, this day of her execution". They through the dress to the
Sheriff “Place the garment on her to prepare her for the execution.” The mayor
said.
Josiah looked into
Amelia's eyes and spoke to her in his mind and said "We can run! You do
not have to do this Amelia!" she responded
“Then what my eternal
mate keep running and then our people will never have a place to be safe. We
must see this through my love!" He lowered his head as if he was saying a
private prayer.
"Do not waste a
prayer on the witch she is damned already she cannot be saved." The mayor
said.
"There is a chance
that everyone can be saved." Josiah said
Amelia stepped back from
her eternal mate shivered and said in her mind for the final time "My
eternal mates just know that we will be together at the end of this. You as my
eternal mate cannot survive without me for too long as I die you die with me so
are you ready?"
"Yes, let’s get
this over with!" Josiah took her by the arm placed her on the pile of
wood.
The mayor says aloud
"Amelia Lynn Wholeheart you have been found guilty of witchcraft do you
deny these charges?"
"I do not! Do what
you will but just know that I am the only witch in a 200 mile radius that if
you need me for any reason you have unjustly persecuted me." She said with
her head held high.
The other warlocks and
witches in the crowd watching told Amelia and Josiah they will never be
forgotten and thanked them for saving their families. The mayor throws the
torch on the pile of wood and Amelia was burned alive. As Amelia burned Josiah
started to scream as his skin bubbled like he was burning also. The mayor told
the townspeople that she cursed him and now because he has touched the witch he
dies like she dies. I could not stop screaming I really thought I was on fire.
"Calm down Julia,
it is only a dream." My Great, Great, Great Grandmother was speaking to
me.
"You were born with
great importance; you are a very great and Powerful witch. Do the right things
with this knowledge and power you are going to be given, it is a great gift. I
love you my child."
I awoke with a jolt and
I was screaming and my mother grabbed me "Julia, where have you been
too?"
"I was Great,
Great, Great Grandmother Amelia and I saw how she sacrificed herself and her
eternal mate Josiah for our people to have a safe Coven for all to live."
I told her. She looked at my father.
