How can I not hurt everyone I know!!!

“No, I thought I would get myself under control before I tried to talk to you again.” he said

“Really, so you make me feel things that I have never felt before and your answer, as always is to run. I need you, and I want you with me but when you run it makes me think you want nothing to do with me. So that makes me run elsewhere! I do not want to hear what you have to say I think we both need to calm down get our priorities straight then see what we both want and talk tomorrow.” I said

“No, you will talk now! What are you playing with? Who is showing you these spells? And why the fuck, are you dressed like that?” Detective O’Connor asked I could feel him getting pissed off

I gasped at his tone “Are you serious right now, you do not talk to me like that and you do not get to ask fifty questions because you will not like the answers. So LEAVE ME ALONE!” I yelled and energy exuded off of me and blows out toward Detective O’Connor he flew back and hit the closet door with a huge boom, then he was gone! I am sick of everyone hiding things from me I need to get out of here.

I went out the window and down the ladder before my parents came to see what happened. I looked up as my dad poked his head out the window to look for me, but he could not see me. I ran down the driveway as I got to the end I could see Ryan’s truck lights coming down the street. I start to walk to the end of the property when I heard “STOP! Wait for him to get here before you cross the barrier of the protection shield.” Amelia said. I did as I was told, Ryan pulled up and was looking for me when I stepped through the shield my veil lifted and he could see me.

“How, How did you do that?” he asked

“Family secret!” I said laughing because of the look on his face

I felt an overwhelming feeling of sadness and I knew Detective O’Connor knew who I was with.

“This is going to kill me to hurt my family and Detective O’Connor!” I sobbed with a look of regret on my face. Ryan grabbed my hand and squeezed “I will be with you through it all Julia, you will always have me by your side! Now let’s go have some fun and forget all this for a couple of hours!” Ryan pulled away as I shook my head yes.

Time to get this plan moving!!

A shiver ran down my back as I walked over to grab my towel and robe off the door. I wrapped my robe around me and put my hair up in a towel. Then I felt his energy come up to my back. I could feel his fingers wrap around my waist and squeeze me to him. Even though he was not physically here I could feel his hands and arms like he was. I felt him kiss me on the shoulder and the top of my back. My breath was fast and heavy all at the same time. “I want this, I need this, please come to me!” I said breathy and forgetting about what we were just arguing about. Then I felt him pull away and say 

“Damn it we cannot!” and he was gone. I do not know what just happened; but I am pissed and aggravated that I am left feeling like this. “Fuck you, O’Connor!” I yelled and that was it I decide to do this all on my own.

I dried off and went to my room, as I walked past the stairs I yelled at my parents “Check the water heater, I think I just burnt off two layers of skin.” then shut my door. I sat in front of my mirror and wondered why does Detective O’Connor want me, I am nothing special and if there was not a connection would he still want me! I know we were born for each other and he is my eternal mate (which I still do not understand). Blah, blah, blah, I just cannot help wondering why me.

I pulled off my towel, grabbed a pair matching white lacy bra and panty set out of my drawer and put them on. Then I grabbed a blue tank top and white sheer shirt that was long in the back and cropped in the front, it kind of hung off one shoulder. I grabbed a pair of jeans that Rose gave me she said they made my ass look good. So I pulled them up and put on my shirts, the jeans did look good they looked frayed and ripped. The fit was a skinny jean fit, so I thought my wedged sandals would make me look taller and my legs look killer when I wear them. I went back over to my vanity and started my make up, I did earth tones and a pink lip gloss with a heavy liner. Then I fishtailed my hair down the left shoulder, with a few wispy hairs spiral curled. I took a selfie and posted it on my social media page labeled as “This is the new me, Bitches!” as soon as it loaded I got a response.

“Damn girl when you go bad you really go bad! You look bad ass. Love it!” Rose posted

“LOL, Love you too! See you soon.” I posted back.

I looked at my phone to see the time, it was 6:00 pm, Ryan will be here soon. I looked out my window when I came home earlier I placed the ladder at my window so I can get out. I need to get heading down to meet Ryan, but since mom told me that the video showed the dark magic coven was at the border of the property I do not know how I was going to mask myself to sneak out so no one would see.

“Repeat after me!” I heard her voice in my head as smooth as chocolate pudding

“Amelia” I said with comfort

“Yes, I will guide you, do you trust me?” She asked

I did trust her; right now she is the only one I did truly trust! “I do, truly I do trust you! What do I need to do?” I asked her

Burn a blue candle for water, and a yellow candle for air. Air will blow to wind outside and the water will blur you out until Ryan arrives.” she told me

I went to the hall closet and opened it; the blue candle was on the bottom shelf the yellow candle. I grabbed them and took them back to my room. Then Amelia gave me instructions on the spell.

“Goddess from the North allow Air to blow, blow, blow to cloak me from evil sight, Goddess from the West allow Water from the West to shield me as I need you to keep me safe.” she explained. So I light the candles and stood to the Northwest as I repeated the spell. But as I finished the spell I could feel the air blow straight down from above me then shoot out my window, then from my left I could feel the spray of water as it wrapped around me in a veil.

“Thank you goddess for the uses of the elements you have blessed me with, blessed be!” I said allowed. Then from behind me I heard something bump my bed side table and I knew she was here. “Shit!” Amelia said “Remember to repeat when you come home so that you are shielded from the dark magic coven. “Blessed be!” she said and was gone.

“What the hell are you doing Julia?” the male Irish accent rang loud in my head

“Oh so you decided to come back, did you! Are you watching me, stalker?” I spat at him, where I could see the energy in my room.

I hate arguing with Detective O'Connor...But I like it at the same time!!!

I turned on the shower to get ready for tonight. As I stepped into the shower the water cascaded on my back and felt so good. As I turned to face the shower head I let the water run down my face to clear the tears from it. This argument gave me an excuse for me to sneak out tonight, but I still feel bad for doing it. I was upset to find out that Detective O’Connor was worried, sad and confused about why I left to confide in Ryan. But I am glad my mom put the reasoning like she did so I can use that at a later time as my excuse for my plan. I start to feel sad again that I will have to hurt them in order to keep them safe. I grabbed the shampoo when I felt a breeze come in the shower. “Hello! Is anyone there?” I asked

“Why? Why did you leave with him, Ryan?” he said in my mind

“Why do you have to ask, you left me last night then you have not been around when I needed you. He was here for me and willing to listen to me and talk to me, so I left!” I told him knowing that was a lie, I want to tell him that I have no feelings for Ryan that he is the only one that consumes my every thought but I can’t it has to be this way.

“Julia, I am sorry I was presented with some information that I needed to think about and then I came across something today I needed to investigate! I am sorry I should have been here for you but I was not and for that I am truly sorry.” he said

“Yes and what was that information?” I asked knowing he would not tell me.

“I do not have all the answers right now; I will tell you as soon as I have the answers. But I ask that you stay away from Ryan, he can protect you from farther rather than closer.” He said

“Are you kidding me right now? And you wonder why I went with him you just answered that question you do not talk to me, you try to handle everything on your own. You and my parents do not let me help, this is my life and “my change” and I am in the dark about it. You guys are pushing me away and fast. So I will go where I can get answers.” I said as I finished in the shower but I was getting so pissed off that the water felt hotter like skin blistering hotter, so I had to jump out. 

STOP KEEPING ME IN THE DARK!!!!

I got back home from the cafe at around 3:30 pm, on the way back to the house Ryan and I came up with a plan. Myself and Ryan were going to figure all this out, I cannot sit back and let my family and Detective O'Connor do this without me. I cannot take that chance that they could be hurt in the process, along with everyone in the coven. I have to protect them from the dark magic coven; I think that they may have infiltrated the coven already. So Ryan has agreed to help me, the plan starts tonight.

I walked into the kitchen where my mom was finishing up loading the dishwasher. She did not look herself. “Mom are you OK, you don’t look so good!” my voice filled with concern.

“Julia, I think I have made the huge mistake by telling you to go with Ryan. Detective O’Connor was so upset that you left with him. I tried to explain the events that took place today, but he would not believe me that was why you went with Ryan to have someone to talk too. So your dad showed him the video of today. But while we viewed it in the distance we could see that the dark magic coven was on the line of the property where the protection spell ended. I am sorry that I did not trust you earlier about the protection spell. I should have known the danger will always be there. But then we all saw the sheer power that radiated from you when you were speaking the incantation for the protection spell. Your power is an unseen power that no one has seen before. It scared and angered Detective O’Connor that he was not here for you but Ryan was, and you went with him to find safety and comfort.” My mother said

“Mom, you told me to hang out with Ryan today! I told you that I did not want too but you pushed it!” I told her

“Julia, he could not feel you, you were too far from him to know if you were safe. In the video we could see that the dark magic coven was shocked by the sheer strength in your words that illuminated from you.” she said as she shut the door to the dishwasher and dried her hand with a towel. She leaned up against the counter looking defeated and exhausted.

“Mom, why is it that every day I find something new out or a new thing happens you all look so shocked? Why has no one ever seen a change like this? I asked her knowing the answer I was able to lip the answer as she said it.

“As soon as your father, myself and Detective O’Connor find the information that tells us this answer we will tell you. You do not need to worry about this you need to relax and let the change happen while we do the rest!” She looked at me with concern then said “Until then you are not to leave this house or the border of the protection spell! Do you understand me?” My mom started to walk toward me grabbing for my arm.

“STOP! Keeping me in the dark! Why do I have to suffer being on lock down, I did not ask for this and I had no warning of this change! This is supposed to be the week of my life graduating, turning nineteen and getting accepted to colleges. But no I am dealing with some freakishly crazy shit! You pushed me today to go with Ryan it was your idea not mine, mom. Remember “make memories”, and “experience life”! I was doing what you told me too. Now you are second guessing what you told me, really. Whatever, Mom!” I said to her as I pulled out of her grip on my arm and ran up stair to the bathroom. I slammed the door to the bathroom.

So Much Information to Take In and So Many Decisions to make!!!

“It is her then; I wanted to show you a drawing of a woman that I have seen in my dreams when I was invoked with the fire element!” I told him

“You have already been invoked with an element?” He asked surprised

“Yes haven’t you?” I asked back

“No! You do not get your first element until after 6 months of training! I have just reached 6 months. Hopefully soon I will be blessed with an element!” He said

“My Great, Great, Great Grandmother Amelia told me that your element is determined at the full moon ceremony! So why have you not received yours?” I asked confused

“You have two full moon ceremonies, the first when the change begins and then again at the end of the year and a day of training! How is it that you can speak to spirit?” Ryan asked grabbing my hand

I did not jump at the touch, it actually comforted me. He rubbed his fingers across the back of my hand; it felt nice and nice to be touched without getting all those confusing feelings. I took a deep breath and answered his question “Yes, I have a couple of times. I have also traveled while I was awake. Like today my dad walked me down to the front door when it was opened I was transported to another time. It was a year after Amelia and Josiah had sacrificed themselves for us to live in a community of safety for our coven. That is how I knew the incantations for the protection spell and the door to the casting circles.” I finally I looked up at him. I don’t know why I felt ashamed for telling him that I could speak to spirits and travel while awake. But I knew when I saw the look on his face, that is was why I did not look at him when I told him. I knew I felt his fingers stop brushing my hand when I answered his question. Ryan looked like he was going to be sick.

“Julia, I do not know if you have heard of the 5th element, but it is spirit! No one has ever been able to touch all 5 elements of a goddesses magic. That is unheard of now I know why Detective O’Connor and myself have been appointed as your protectors. Amelia told me that you will have an army of protection along with a court of people that will serve you and because of your specialty in the elements even your friends will change early so they can be by your side.” Ryan said

“You said Alaina has a message for you to give me, what was Alainas' Message?” I asked

“Alaina wants you to know that you are in danger! As you should already know you are special even more so then she was. You will obviously have the fifth element, which has not been heard of ever. I questioned her motives at first until she proved to me who she is. Alaina is alive but she is being held in the dark magic coven. Only after you have been trained can she be saved.” Ryan said. He squeezed my hand and continued “Myself and your parents applied to Kentucky University for you. We can hide there without detection from the dark magic coven. But Detective O'Connor cannot know why.  We will have to come up with a plan to get out of town without him knowing. He is being tracked to watch your progress. I need to explain to your parents of your elemental powers they will be shocked but understand why we need it to be this way. Your parents do not know of Alaina, and before you say why it is because the dark magic coven has spells everywhere to read minds and memories if you tell them they could walk through a spell then the dark magic coven will know that Alaina is to break through their binding spells. Then we will be without her guidance.” Ryan finished.

“This is a lot of information to take in. I will need to speak to Detective O'Connor I will not give anything away I promise. But I am thinking the only way to get away is to pretend that I am interested in you. But please know that it will just be to mask what is truly going on.” I told him

Ryan agreed that may be the way to proceed and of course he did not mind being the man that I am interested in. I am hurting already that I have to hurt Detective O’Connor, but to keep my family; Amelia, Detective O’Connor and then coven safe then I will do what I need too. My back pocket started to play “Demons” (performed by one of my favorite bands Imagine Dragons) to alert me of a text message. This particular ring tone was assigned to my best friend Rose and believe me it is fitting. I have not talked to her since Detective O’Connor’s welcome dinner. Just thinking of his name surrounds me with that feeling of his energy wrapping around me, and gives me the memory of his lips on mine. I usually talk to Rose at least on average five times a day, god I miss talking to my best friend I have so much to I need to tell her and cannot. I picked my phone out of my pocket to read the text:

Do I Leave or Do I Stay????

I saw Ryan from across the field I pointed to the side of the house and lipped to give me a few minutes to meet him there. He shook his head and started to walk that way. Everyone started for the barn to go to the casting circles “Does anyone have Lotus Root?” Julia asked

James Allen our local holistic specialist said “Yeah I continue to preserve it just in case we would do this one day again I will be back!” Jack was back in no time at all. I told everyone what Elizabeth told the coven before and I also gave the warning of dark magic being used. “You just saw what happened to Jack and Emily they were damned and casted out of the protection of the coven. Protect what you need to.” Julia told them all. Julia’s mother asked “What will I find down there?”

“Circles a lot of circles” I said

“Do you have one?” she whispered low

“Mom I am sure you will see but I am not telling you anything!” I told her I seriously wanted her to be surprised, I wanted her to see how it felt.

Oh no O’Connor is here I can feel him getting closer by the minute. “Mom tell him you need him in the casting chambers to check them out with you. I need to do something.” I asked my mother

“Yeah sure! Everything ok? she asked

“Do you want him to see Ryan? I am meeting him on the side of the house I am going to the cafe

in town with him to talk.” Julia told her

“OOOOHHHH, gotcha!” she said as she walked passed me to meet Detective O’Connor

I saw my mom she signaled for me to run; I darted off to the side of the house Ryan was in his Dodge Ram truck. I jumped in and he took off like a bat out of hell! He drove through town and the cafe came up on the left side of the street. It was quiet the whole ride over. I jumped out of the truck and grabbed a table outside on the sidewalk. Ryan went in to order, he came back with a Pepsi and he got me strawberry lemonade.

“I am sorry for my behavior Saturday! But like I said in my e-mail I am not sorry for the kiss.” Ryan said

“If you have gone through the change already then you know that Detective O’Connor is my eternal mate! So why try to get me to be with you?” I asked him

“Because I know we were not born to be eternal mates but he is not supposed to have you yet. I want to be with you through the time that we are supposed to be without our eternal mates. So I was excited to learn that I was assigned to you as your protector. Julia you need to go with me to Kentucky! That is not a request that is an order from Alaina!” Ryan said

We need to protect our land...hope they believe me!

“Julia, I know that you are here with me I can feel you with in me! I want you to know that this tradition of the protection spell needs to begin again there is dark magic close it will surround and protect the property and community of the coven. This is how Gypsy Cove was developed and the coven has stayed safe for so long. But someone is out to destroy our community I feel like it is someone trying to get in close to you by any means possible. Protect your coven and property Julia they are coming. Blessed be!” Elizabeth said as she pushed me back with her energy.

Julia awakened with a crowd around her! “What is going on? Did it happen again? MOM, DAD where are you?” Julia was freaking out

Jacqueline and Dale were pushing through the crowd “Honey we are here! Move please so that we may get to our daughter? Thank you!” Dale said firmly

Julia’s parents reached her finally “Mom, Dad how long has it been since the protection spell has been cast?” Julia asked

“It has been many years Julia. Is that where you have been, in the past?” Jacqueline asked

“Yes with Great, Great Grandmother Elizabeth and Great, Grandfather Glen. But don’t worry about that now we need to cast the protection spell like right now. Elizabeth told me before she sent me back that the dark magic is close, really close.” Julia told her mother

“Julia I do not think she meant now maybe further down the road but not now!” her mother answered her

“I am asking everyone that believes that I have been in the past to go get your materials we need to go to the four corners of the property and then to our casting circles. I will instruct you on what to do. Please do not hesitate we must do this now today or it will not work and we will be vulnerable to whatever is trying to invade our coven.” Julia told them

“How do you know of the casting circle we have not used them in years we are more opened to using our homes now. We do not even remember the incantation to use for the casting circles, do you?” They asked

“Yes, now please get what is needed and meet me back here!” Julia said

Everyone did as Julia asked and she did as she remembered from when she saw Elizabeth do it in her day dream travels. As they finished they saw the goddesses close the dome. But this time a hole opened up on the side of the dome and the goddess sent a wind that hit Jack and Emily MacAteer, sending them out of the circle. I looked at my mother her mouth dropped open and she could not believe that her good friend and co-worker was a threat to the coven. I mouthed to her “Mom, I am sorry!” she nodded and waved to continue on. The goddesses closed the protection spell and everyone again at the same time said “Blessed Be”!

Who's Casting Cirles are those?

Great Uncle Glen bent down to his mother and whispered “Are you really going to let them in the casting circle?”

“My child Amelia would not allow any danger to come to her coven! I have sent the warning everyone knows that if any dark magic is practiced then they will be damned to the outside mortal world. I believe they will do right by the coven. It has not been proven that they practice with the dark magic, my son. Do not pass judgment unless you have proof. Is that not what the mortal world has done to our people for centuries?”  Elizabeth asked

“Yes mother I am sorry!” Great Uncle Glen said with a bow.

“Everyone there is a hay bale ahead on the right I need several strong men to move it please.” Elizabeth asked

Four men came forward and lifted the bale away and a door appeared! Elizabeth looked at the crowd and said place a snapped lotus root under your tongue, wave your hand over the door and whisper this incantation “Signs openus Argus, Wholeheart!” Each incantation Amelia has set for each family, it will not allow you to enter under someone else’s surname. So as each of you follow please do as I have instructed the lotus root is in the jar on the wall to your left.

Elizabeth and Glenn went first as they walked down the spiral staircase to the caverns below. Each family in the coven had their own casting circles directed in the direction of their goddess and elemental power. Glenn looked at his mother who was looking at the floor. Off to the right of the middle was a smaller casting circle with the name “Alaina Lynn Rivers-O’Malley” and in the middle was a large casting circle with a name “Julia Amelia Wholeheart-O’Connor” no one knew the names that were almost shining off the floor. Julia could not even think she was in complete shock from seeing her name on the floor and with Detective O’Connor’s name at the end of it.

“Elizabeth who does those names belong to?” Janay Aherne asked

“Janay, I do not know! I see that Julia will be a descendant of mine she bares the Wholeheart name. But I do not know of her at this time. But I do not know of the Rivers family either.” Elizabeth said

Everyone gathered around the circles “Why would they be separated and larger than the rest?” Everyone is confused none of them have ever seen this before. Elizabeth raises her right hand “Everyone listen to me we will find out soon who these people are soon enough. Let’s finish getting Gypsy Cove to the safe coven that it was meant to be.” Everyone agreed the families found their casting circles and placed their materials around them, well everyone but the O’Rourke’s their materials went with them. Julia kind of kept her eye on them but thought maybe they just did not trust someone and thought that it would be stolen.

Elizabeth walked over to the O’Rourke’s; she asked “Coreana if you take your materials out and keep them in your home you could be caught!”

“Well let me tell you this you are not in charge here Elizabeth, you will never take your mother's place!” She spat at Elizabeth with such hatred that you could feel the fire behind it.

“Coreana, let me tell you this; never in a million years would I think that I could fill my mother's’ shoes as this covens Ultimate Grand High Priestess, I was not granted with that privilege at my full moon ceremony. But do not forget I have been around a lot longer and I was gifted with the element of water and I could put your fire out before you even knew what hit you. But my mother and the other made the decision that I take her place until a new Ultimate Grand Priestess is gifted to us.” Elizabeth said. Julia thought even though she could feel the anger in Elizabeth she spoke with calmness and easy to Coreana. But I could start to see steam coming up from in front of me. I looked down and felt the smile that hit Elizabeth’s face when Coreana finally realized my Great, Great Grandmother just cooled her down. I laughed to myself but could feel that Elizabeth wanted to do the same thing.

“Are you kidding me Elizabeth?” Coreana Yelled   

“Just thought, I would calm your fire down Coreana!” Elizabeth said as she turned and walked away

Our past is our past, and I plan to change our future!

This was taking place about a year after the sacrifice of my Great, Great, Great Grandmother and Grandfather. There was a group of townspeople at the edge of our property looking at me for guidance. I saw my reflection in the window to my left I was my Great, Great Grandmother Elizabeth. I had Black as black can be hair, beautiful golden skin I swear I sparkled when the light hit me, and sea green eyes a green that glowed bright. Holy shit she is beautiful!

Glenn bent to my ear and said “Mother our people are asking for your guidance for what the next move is to create the safe haven that Amelia and Josiah wanted and sacrificed themselves for. What do you need our people to do?”

“Towns people of Coven Hurst gather your supplies for your circles create groups for each element on the four corners of the property. Amelia has left a protection spell that will conceal us from the mortal world. When outside the cast you will need to protect yourself so that no mortal finds out about us or yourself. Amelia has also supplied us with a cavern under the property to practice what you wish to practice or cast. But be warned if you try to practice the dark magic it will curse you and damn your family to the outside of the coven. Heed this warning because you will be cast out forever if you practice dark magic and only an Ultimate Grand Priestess can allow one back in!” Elizabeth instructed.

As everyone returned with all materials needed. Elizabeth stood in the middle of the property she sent out to everyone “Go to the corners of the properties that represent your goddess of your element. Each person pulls out a white candle, and protection incense. In each corner of the property you will find a photo that Amelia had of your families and of the property. Light the incense and place a lite candle on the photos. Take each other’s hands and hold them high ask your goddesses to invoke the element of your respective goddess. Once you have felt that you have been fully invoked call upon the white light of protection. Then say a loud:

“O goddess of the North, East, South, and West I ask that you protect my loved ones in the Coven Hurst community every day, as they sleep, work and play. Elizabeth told the coven to repeat the incantation again to protect the land. As the coven finished the protection spell for the property a white light rose from the ground to the four goddess; that have appeared above their heads. As the goddesses brought their hands together it completed the dome over the land. As if on cue everyone said “Blessed be!” They gave back their elements to the goddesses and thanked them for their protection and use of the elements. We all heard

“Blessed be my children!” and then the goddesses were gone.

The community came up to the porch and asked Elizabeth, where are the casting circles? That Amelia and Josiah have made for them. Glen and Elizabeth told the crowd to follow them to the barn. As they walked into the barn a young man walked forward Julia gasped as she recognized him right away as the man from the parking lot at Coven Hurst University, and the photo from the police station case file, only he was a lot younger. He stood with his family. His father had black hair with dark set eyes but the color was blue they almost looked fake. He was 6’0, 200 lbs., pale skin. His mother was not like the other women in the coven she was angry and full of rage I could feel it palpating off of her like she was on fire. Her eyes looked like they were burning red. She did not try to hide them from anyone. She was around 5’8, 135 lbs., athletic build, and she definitely looked like she could take care of herself. Elizabeth bent down and said

“Benjamin O'Rourke, you grow cuter every time I see you.  How have you been?”

“Miss Elizabeth, you are as young as the first time I met you. I have been great looking forward to more of your teaching.” Benjamin said.

“All in good time Benjamin! Let’s get our home back in order then we shall start! Blessed be!” she said as she bent down to kiss his forehead.

“Blessed be, Miss Elizabeth!” Benjamin ran back to his mother who was throwing daggers at Elizabeth with her eyes.

Elizabeth bowed to her and smiled big “Blessed Be, Coreana!”

Coreana O'Rourke glared at her and did not return the salutation until her husband snapped his fingers and pointed. She hissed it out like an evil snake about to attack “Blessed Be, Elizabeth!” You could hear the sarcasm oozing out.
